This year, we’re delighted to be collaborating with Light Up The North network partners Light Night Leeds and Light Up Lancaster to deliver SHINE 2019.
The SHINE programme aims to nurture and develop new talent, giving artists the opportunity to exhibit or perform new work in a professional environment. Following an open call for submissions in June this year, three emerging artists were selected and commissioned to create brand-new light artworks for presentation at all three partner festivals in 2019.
Light Night Leeds: 10-11 October 2019
Light Up Lancaster:1-2 November 2019
Lightwaves: 6-15 December 2019
Tom Lambert (Manchester, UK) will create a light installation that invites visitors to shift their perspective from the mundane to the fantastic, as they’re transported from the real world into one of kaleidoscopic wonder.
Gemma Woods (York, UK) is developing a participatory artwork that explores themes of happiness through a colourful and playful display of neon and light.
Joe Moran (Nottingham, UK) is using fresnel lenses to create a rotating sculpture that emits beautiful patterns of refracted light.
