It’s over a month since Mini Burble first took to the skies at Salford’s MediaCityUK, but it feels like an age!
You’d think we’d have taken a holiday after hosting four different artist companies, nearly 200 volunteer performers and a team of dedicated stewards and technicians over five days. But far from putting our feet up, we’ve been hard at work hand-crafting a video of the event with more than a little help from our friends at Viva La Zoom. Were you there on the opening and closing nights? Perhaps you will spot yourself here!
As you can see from this video, we had a ball hosting the Umbrellium team who travelled all the way up from London during their five day residence here at Greater Manchester’s waterfront. The public had a whale of a time interacting with the 300 LED lit illuminated balloons too! We were very lucky to get a few minutes to chat with Usman Haque and Ling Tan from Umbrellium, who give a wonderful behind-the-scenes insight into the artwork.
What’s more, we had Boy Blue Entertainment leading a troupe of 50 dancers from across Greater Manchester, demonstrating the range of abilities and backgrounds on offer right here on our very doorstep. And we also had the return of the Honour Choir serenading the sculpture into the sky while Stuart Childs helped people get up close and personal with digital technology at his tech-maker stall.
It was a jam-packed week, and the memories will live on even longer with Viva La Zoom’s excellent video, but now it’s time to start looking ahead to our next event: Lightwaves 2015!
