Just Over One Week Until APERTURE Launches

Read Time:1 Minute, 3 Second

It’s nearly ‘lights, camera, action’ time for APERTURE: Greater Manchester Media Arts Exhibition, which opens on Monday 7th March 2016 at University of Salford Foyer. Featuring the work of ten artists from across Greater Manchester, the work is predictably diverse and wide-ranging in scope.

Visitors will be taken on a journey through the imagination: from a tongue-in-cheek parody of reality TV interviews, to an imagined helium-filled balloon ride across the northern countryside. Artists adopt cartoon motifs and stop-motion animation to subvert the living, breathing environment that surround them, while others breath new life into old deserted libraries and repurposed mills through innovative editing and sound-recording techniques.

Each video has been nominated for inclusion in the exhibition by a prominent local organisation, including municipal and independent art galleries, and educational institutions. Drawing on local curators’ in-depth knowledge of the media art landscape that’s alive and well in Greater Manchester, APERTURE represents a rare opportunity to see all of these artists and their works in one place. As with all Quays Culture events, the exhibition is completely free and open for the public’s enjoyment. Find out more here.
