Balloons, Song and Dance Take Over MediaCityUK

Read Time:1 Minute, 1 Second

Last week, the Piazza at MediaCityUK played host to hundreds of artists, volunteers and participants in a multimedia celebration of all things bright and beautiful.

Opening on Tuesday 14th July, Umbrellium‘s MINI BURBLE took to the skies to the heavenly tones of the Honour Choir – comprised of hundreds of singers from across Greater Manchester – who gave a special one-off performance.

MINI BURBLE flew for five nights, with audiences able to interact with the incredible structure using a specific MINI BURBLE iPad app and via Twitter, using the hashtag #miniburble. They painted the floating cloud of balloons in all manner of colours, collaborating and competing in time with each other, resulting in some truly hypnotic colour combinations.

The closing night saw the culmination of eight weeks of hard graft from our volunteer dancers, who – like the choir – were drawn from across Greater Manchester, learning the moves created by celebrated choreographers, Boy Blue Entertainment. Another one-off performance created to complement the burbling colours of Umbrellium’s artwork, it took place twice: once at 5:30pm and again at 9:45pm, and drew enthusiastic audiences out to The Quays.

Keep an eye out for more pictures and videos in the coming weeks!
